Technology is one of the most awesome, and yet one of the most frustrating, innovations of our time! The advances made in technology every day are unbelievable and the changes are usually significant enough that people want the capabilities of the latest product. This leaves the quandary of what to do with the product you currently have.
I remember a few years ago my husband and I went to the local PX (Post Exchange, for anyone not familiar with military terminology – it’s kind of like the department store of most Army bases) and they had a good price on the first generation iPads. I had never really looked at an iPad before and it wasn’t long until I was drooling over it. I remember the excitement I felt when my husband told me to buy it! The excitement was short lived though, because it wasn’t long after the purchase that Apple announced they were coming out with the iPad2! The new iPad2 would have cameras built in and the ability to use Facetime and other camera affiliated applications.. and that was just one of the new capabilities that my first generation iPad lacked. So naturally, I really wanted an iPad2! What do I do? Do I sell my ipad? Who would want it for a decent price with the iPad2 available? In the end, I just couldn’t justify spending the money to buy one when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the iPad I had except that it wasn’t the latest technology!
I have come across this scenario on many occasions since then and it’s still just as frustrating! They have since come out with the iPad Mini and the iPad with Retina Display. What do you do? Do you keep up with the Joneses when it comes to technology? Or are you more a person who tries to be sensible like me?
