A few weeks ago I mentioned goulash to my husband and it has been on his mind since then. So, last night while trying to figure out what to cook for dinner he mentioned it. I love Paula Deen recipes so I did a quick Google search to see if she had a goulash recipe and I came across this one! My family really enjoyed it! Let me know what you guys think of it if you try it!

This recipe was really good! Food Network says the recipe is courtesy of Paula Deen, so I'm assuming that with the name "Bobby's Goulash" either he helped create it or he loves it so much she named it after him!. It says it makes 6 servings, but for my family it made a lot more than that! We had 2 adults and 3 children eating it and we didn't even eat half of it for supper! The other half is now vacuum sealed and awaiting us in the freezer for a day when I need a quick meal!
Ingredients
Goulash
- 2lb Lean ground beef
- 2 large Yellow onions (chopped)
- 3 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
- 3 Cups Water
- 2 (15 oz) Cans Tomato sauce
- 2 (15 oz) Cans Diced tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
- 3 Bay leaves
- 3 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp House seasoning (recipe follows)
- 1 Tbsp Seasoned salt
- 2 Cups Elbow macaroni (uncooked)
House Seasoning
- 1 Cup Salt
- 1/4 Cup Pepper
- 1/4 Cup Garlic powder
Directions
| Goulash | |
| Step 1 | |
| In a Dutch oven, saute the ground beef over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Break up the meat while sauteing. Spoon off any grease. Add the onions and garlic to the pot and saute until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, House Seasoning, and seasoned salt. Stir well. Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, and allow the mixture to sit about 30 minutes more before serving. | |
| House Seasoning | |
| Step 2 | |
| Mix the ingredients together and store in an air-tight container for up to 6 months. Use as a seasoning on meat and when cooking vegetables. | |

What is that on top of picture? Is it sour cream? Do you put that on top? Sound really good, will have to try it!

That is sour cream on the top in the picture. It is very good like that if you like sour cream! I do like it on top, but in my house we do it on our individual portions because my husband doesn’t like it, ha ha!
